Hardy Haberland

Hardy Haberland’s

Approach

1. Seeing things as they are.

He realized that most people in our society believe half-truths and romantic ideas that sound reasonable, but don’t produce the best outcomes. He also realized that the best ideas that lead to the best outcomes often are paradoxical and even seem wrong to the nonmaster. That’s why Hardy questions everything and takes nothing at face value.

Seeing things as they are is the first understanding to achieving exceptional outcomes.

2. The exception is the possibility.

Hardy realized that almost all limitations were completely made-up and had no basis in reality. They were simply false beliefs. Hardy also realized that almost every high-achiever is an underachiever because they shortchange their potential. They shortchange their potential because they buy into those artificial limitations. But they could achieve so much more if they break their chains of false beliefs and rebuild their belief.

Hardy firmly believes that most smart and capable people could achieve at least ten times more with the right mindset and approach.

3. Playing the long game.

Hardy realized that the most valuable things in life like trust are build over time. Hardy also realized that all returns in life and business come from compound interest and repeat business. That’s why Hardy isn’t interested in short-term relationships and short-term transactional projects. He only wants to play long-term games with long-term people.

4. Serving others with excellence at the highest level.

Hardy realized that if he focuses on helping others get what they want, he’d also get what he wants because success is a by-product. This understanding allowed him to work with hundreds of world-class performers. It also allowed him to have several major business breakthroughs.

5. Only first-class business and never settling for anything less than the best.

Hardy never had any interest in mediocrity. He always wanted to have the best things in life. This avenue created a specific destination for him. He realized the necessity of mastering his craft because having the best things in life is a by-product of mastery.

The pursuit of mastery changed everything. But he quickly realized that very few people were interested in mastery. Most were interested in adopting rules, but those rules always had exceptions to them. He also realized that most people were addressing symptoms and not root causes.

Hardy had to build his own foundation.

He learned that everything was about understanding what works and in which context. He learned that everything was about understanding the nuances and complexities. He learned that everything was about understanding the biggest levers in each circumstance. He learned that everything was about pattern recognition because if he could see a pattern, he could amplify the pattern. He learned that everything was about deeply understanding the chain reaction of positive and negative consequences that every strategy and tactic has. He learned that everything was about thinking in terms of the counterfactuals. He learned that everything was about protecting the downside because success means too much.

Now, after thousands of hours testing marketing hypothesis and thousands of hours learning from the world’s best marketers, Hardy achieved mastery in his craft.

6. Achieving the impossible is possible by learning from one's own mistakes and learning from the best in the world.

Hardy realized that learning from one’s own mistakes is good and learning from other people’s mistakes is even better. That’s why Hardy's always working, always reading, and always meeting world-class performers. This is how Hardy became a learning machine.

Hardy read hundreds of books ranging from advertising, marketing, psychology, philosophy to science and everything in between. He studied the great advertising, copywriting, and marketing pioneers including Claude Hopkins, Dan Kennedy, Gary Bencivenga, Gary Halbert, Gene Schwartz, John Caples, John E. Kennedy, Rosser Reeves, Russell Brunson, and the “Father of Advertising“ David Ogilvy. Hardy also studied great investors like Charlie Munger, Naval Ravikant, Peter Thiel, and Warren Buffett.

For example, Hardy also learned a lot from Advaita teachers like Nisargadatta Maharaj, Osho, Ramana Maharshi, Robert Adams, and U.G. Krishnamurti.

His favorite books are “Man’s Search for Meaning” by Victor Frankl, “Siddharta“ by Hermann Hesse, “The Enlightenment Trilogy” by Jed McKenna, “The Incerto” by Nassim Taleb, and “The Sun Rises in the Evening“ by Osho.

7. The secret to living is giving.

Hardy realized that his success was made possible by god, the universe, or whatever you want to call it. He realized that thousands of factors played into his success including having the family, friends, and mentors he had.

He believes that making sure others can live a good life is a moral duty to him because many people helped him along the way.

Hardy donated to charitable organizations like Fuck Cancer, Pencils of Promise, and Underground Railroad to name a few.
